Pads
At Ken Neans Construction, we build Pads right. Vegetation is removed. Sub grade is cut and re-compacted. Crushed limestone road base processed with water and compacted with large rollers. Thicker pads are always installed in lifts of 8" or less.
Whenever you are building a mansion next to a river, you can never be too safe on finished floor elevation. Pad pictured below had 13 tested lifts after vegetation and clay were removed, and was built and approved by testing lab with on site materials.

To
put in a pad right, you need more than a bobcat and a 6 yard truck. Sub
grade shown was all on site materials and built in lifts.
